NCAA ranked No.2 Texas found a new place on the leaderboard in New Orleans! After a 4th place finish at Northrop, the Longhorns are on top!

NCAA women’s golf competition has moved on to New Orleans. After a rainy week at the Northrop Grumman Challenge the field was ready for some sunshine!

A packed field headed south to New Orleans and the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate tournament. After three days of battle Texas found success in the field, but who else fared finished inside the top-five to stay on top for the NCAA Hunt for Blessings?

No. 2 ~ Texas Longhorns

The Longhorns found an early lead at the Allstate Sugar Bowl as they finished at 3-under 285 one shot ahead of No.3 Duke.

Cooper and Luitwieler fired away to lead the Longhorns above the back NCAA field and landing in the top-five individually. As a team, the Longhorns fired 61 pars for the day and 15 birdies, standout play that made them best in the field.

The Longhorns kept pace on day two, staying ahead of the NCAA field and putting all five Texas golfers within the top-twenty! The Longhorns went 3-over par with a 291 to bring themselves to even par and four strokes ahead of No.1 USC. Totally a field-best 121 pars among the field, Luitwieler is sitting t-4th looking for her first top-five finish in New Orleans!

No.2 Texas collected their second win of the year, beating 17 NCAA ranked teams in the process!

Luitwieler finished T8th, the best Longhorn individually at 3-over par 219. Along with her in the top-twenty was sophomore Laisne and freshman Cooper with 4-over 220’s in t-11th. Along with sophomore Papp at t-17th with a six-over par 222 while leading the field with 42 pars!

Coach Murphy is excited to take this trophy back to Texas!

The Longhorns return to a NCAA field on March12-13 at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at Kaneohe Klipper Golf Club in Kailua, Hawaii.
